This hyper pigmentation is seen over perinal area as well as medial aspect of the thighs. It is due to accumulation of pigments in both dermis and epidermis. The sources of these pigments are oxy haemoglobin in arterioles and capillaries, deoxy haemoglobin in venules, carotenes, unmetabolised bile salts, melanin, drugs and metals.
